Q: How long is the rental commitment of each unit?

A: Monthly or Annually

Q: How far in advance can I book a storage unit?

A: If a unit is available you may reserve and check-in same day. You may also reserve a unit for up to two weeks.

Q: What do I need to rent a unit?

A: You will need to provide a government issued ID, credit or debit card to set up automatic bill pay and completed rental agreement. Cash and check payment also available but must be received prior to access.

Q: Are long term storage solutions offered?

A: You are able to prepay on a yearly basis.

Q: Is my price guaranteed for as long as I rent?

A: Your original monthly rate is not guaranteed for the life of your rental. Unit rates are renewed on a yearly basis when necessary to keep up with rising costs associated with providing top-notch service and a clean, secure facility.

Q: What payment options are available?

A: Credit or debit online payment (automatic monthly bill pay available) or cash/check payments which can be coordinated with our team individually.

Q: What happens if I'm late making a payment?

A: Your rent is due on the first day of each month (first month will be prorated). If payment is not received by the 5th of the month at 5PM, access to the property will be denied until payment is received and a $15 late fee will be assessed. If rent is still unpaid by 5PM on the 15th of the month a second $25 late fee is assessed. Self storage units that are delinquent for an extended period of time risk the unit belongings going to auction based on current state law. Q: Will homeowners or renters insurance cover storage units?

A: Homeowners and renters’ insurance typically include off-premises coverage that covers belongings in a storage unit. Please consult with your insurance provider for specific details.

Q: Am I required to purchase insurance on my storage unit?

A: If you do not currently have a homeowner's, renter's, or business insurance policy which covers off-site possessions, then storage unit insurance will be required. We offer affordable monthly insurance options that can be added onto your rental agreement.

Q: Can I change storage unit sizes after I move in?

A: If you feel a different storage size in needed, you can change your reservation with William Penn Storage provided a larger or smaller unit is available.

Q: Can you run a business out of your storage unit?

A: No; however, William Penn Self Storage units are committed to offering business-friendly storage solutions to store and inventory parts and materials.

Q: Does William Penn Self Storage offer car, motorcycle, RV or boat storage solutions?

A: Size depending, garage door openings are 9' wide x 7' tall and may be able to store your property. Property must be able to run and aside from minor maintenance, your unit can not be used as a work shop to work on a car, motorcycle, etc.

Q: Can I buy boxes or other packing materials from William Penn Self Storage?

A: No

Q: How do I update my information on my account?

A: Via your website login or you may call us at 724.320.0577.

Q: Who provides the access code and key for my unit?

A: An access code will be provided via email when your rental contract is signed with William Penn Self Storage. You are responsible for providing the lock you put on your individual unit.

Q: What should I do if I lost my access code or key?

A: If you lose your access code or fear it has been compromised, contact a member of our team for reset. You are responsible for providing the lock you put on your individual unit.

Q: How much notice is required to move out?

A: A written 10-day notice is required to move out and end your monthly contract with William Penn Storage.

Q: What do I need to move out?

A: On your scheduled move out day, make sure the unit is completely empty and broom swept, your lock has been removed, and the facility manager has been notified.

Q: How do I report maintenance issues?

A: Please call or email our team in the event you encounter maintenance issues.

Q: What is climate-controlled storage?

A: Climate-controlled storage allows for temperature controlled environment that remains between 50 and 80 degrees at all times. This environment is preferred for anyone storing temperature sensitive items.

Q: What items need climate-controlled storage?
  • Climate-controlled storage can be beneficial for several of the following categories:
  • Collectibles such as artwork, stamp collections, record collections, etc.
  • Electronics such as TV's, gaming systems, stereos, computers and cameras
  • Books, clothing, personal effects
  • Photos and negatives, film reels, cassettes, etc.
  • Furniture including wood and leather
  • Any other item you question being exposed to climate changes in our region
Q: What items are not allowed to be stored in my unit?

  • flammable and combustable items like gas, propane tanks and car batteries
  • vehicles or motorsport vehicles not in working order
  • Failure to comply with these prohibited items will result in immediate termination of rental agreement.
